A break-in and alarm upgrade in New Eltham

We were called to a property on the New Eltham and Sidcup border after a break-in. The customer did have a burglar alarm system (not fitted by us) but unfortunately it wasn't working because the system hadn't been serviced in years. The intruders gained access through the glazed section at the rear of the house and had as long as they wanted because there was no deterrent of an alarm sounding.

We upgraded their system to the latest market leading equipment. The old external siren was around 15 years old and not much of a visual deterrent. As part of all our wired upgrades, we offer a backlit external siren which glows when the light drops - a clear sign to anyone passing that the system is live and new. The old siren was a different shape and left an unsightly mark on the wall, so we went up the ladders and gave a lick of paint around the new one so there was no sign of the old box.

Christmas Eve emergency callout

We got a call on Christmas Eve from a property on the borders of New Eltham and Chislehurst. The alarm siren was blaring away and the homeowner couldn't get hold of the company that installed the system. It turned out to be a low battery on the outside siren. Matt attended with his head torch and extra long ladders, navigated through the bushes in the dark, disarmed the rogue siren and reset the system just in time for a quiet Christmas.

CCTV positioning in New Eltham

When it comes to CCTV, camera positioning matters. On one job in New Eltham, the property had just finished some building works and a full refurbishment, and the customer was keen to protect their home before moving in. We were coming from the loft but realised that if we drilled the camera out where we'd planned, it would be looking down on the top of someone's head rather than at a height where it could identify faces. The cameras were 3k images and 24 hour colour, so getting the position right was important. We adjusted and the customer was happy with the coverage.
